Each city's monthly figures are climate normals — long-run averages, not forecasts or single-year records. Daily temperature, precipitation, and relative humidity values for 1991–2020 were retrieved from the NASA POWER (Prediction Of Worldwide Energy Resources) API, which is built on NASA's MERRA-2 atmospheric reanalysis and satellite-derived data. For each month, we average every daily high and daily low across all 30 years to produce the high and low temperature figures shown; precipitation is the average total rainfall for that month, and humidity is the average daily relative humidity at 2 meters (RH2M). Set a range for typical daytime highs and a separate range for overnight lows — a city only matches when both hold true for the selected month. Humidity and elevation ranges narrow the results further: humidity is checked per selected month, while elevation is a fixed, single value per city sourced from the same NASA POWER request.
Reanalysis data is model- and satellite-derived and gridded at roughly 0.5° resolution, so figures approximate conditions at each city's coordinates rather than an official station record. Coastal, high-altitude, and urban-heat-island effects may cause small deviations from local station data.
Air quality was intentionally left out: unlike temperature, precipitation, humidity, and elevation, there's no stable 30-year "normal" for it — air quality varies day to day with wildfire smoke, traffic, and weather, so a long-run average wouldn't reflect real conditions in any given month.
Climate normals were retrieved and last verified in August 2026. The 1991–2020 averaging window itself is fixed and does not change year to year, but the city list and figures are periodically re-checked against the source API.
